I think it's not more than logical that IF they want one game for ESWC 2013 in terms of TrackMania, that they pick Stadium. It's been going on for ages now and in my eyes the level is just higher than in Canyon. The argument that the same players are still on the top is invalid, as we see new players reaching that very high level each year (Royal, PokeR, Asserich and many more) and it's not like old players are 'dominating' or something.
Besides that, who cares Stadium² is still in Beta? I think we've seen many 'beta' titles at world cups or big events, such as CS:GO and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty/Heart of the Swarm. Besides that, if you would have played (which you could have, but I don't understand the comment then), it's not like it's in some sort of alpha mode where it would be unthinkable to have tournaments with it.. it's more or less finished, just some final tweaks to make it better I guess. ALSO, the tournament is in a few months.. I'm sure that at the time the game will be released.
Seriously, I don't dislike the community of Canyon (well, if Laurens wouldn't have made these comments I'd have a little clearer view about it, but one person doesn't make a community ;-)), but I don't think it's a that weird of a choice and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have thought it would be a weird choice if I, for instance, would have been a Canyon player.
Too bad for you that there is no tournament more at ESWC, but I'm sure other tournaments will step up. If people enjoy Canyon more than Stadium, they should play that and create tournaments with that.
Well I believe I did write a couple of more things besides the active players point that makes Stadium better as an esport, I guess you missed those.
And yes there are a lot of good players in the game that I think can become a world champion in compare to Canyon. As I also wrote, the game has had 7 different world champions in 7 years. That's a remarkable fact.
And the more people that get that chance to play, the better the competition will obviously be, and that's what should be the goal here, because right now we're just standing still/dying.
Have you actually experienced this mode yourself? It doesn't sound like you have. To be honest, I haven't heard from anyone that has tried or watched the mode in action that think this is a bad mode for competitions. Why not give it a chance? The normal Cup Mode has not developed whatsoever since it got introduced, but it's still used just because it's the standard in the game (and it's hylis' baby). But that shouldn't mean anything imo.
furthermore, this cup mode hasn't to be changed.. Although I understand your points, because I've only bad memories of this mode :( but sometimes, I know sure it gives you also luck..
Minato: I understand your frustration, but Stadium has been part of the scene since a couple of years now... Canyon only 2 years.. or maybe less.
I don't really love when people says that one game is more exciting to watch as the other.. That's just favouritism (idk if this word exist lmao). Just accept the way it is..You can't do anything... As a Stadium player, OFC i want Stadium to be promote and all that stuff, but you know what? I can't even go to events, since I'm living at the other side of the Atlantic. Some exception: Carl Jr. But unfortunately for me, I'm not as good as him, so it's almost impossible for me to go to main events.
Just accept the situation as it is.Best regards.
I know most of you mainly because I'm involved on both Stadium and Canyon communities. For sure we all know that it is sad for Canyon to loose this tournament but does Canyon deserve to be @ESWC? Canyon doesn't have so much players all around the world. If you remove FR and Germany, you remove more or less 90% of hard players on TM2C.
And what is the best? Having two really small tournament? Or one bigger than it was last year (I hope ths team there will be more than 8 slots).
fB I'm against ESL Cup mode checkout why on the MP forum post.
Laulau Gosh so much hate from you that I didn't expected... Laurens you are a friendly and really cool guy in real life and I hope you told this just because of raging...
Well, laurens just prooved to everyone he's the biggest retard/rager/impolite kid in this community.. Well, one of the worst lol..at least on internet.
Imo this is the point of why canyon should be there instead of tmn, it's time for tmn to let the place to the next-gen TM.
Like CS (1.6 & source) did, like SM replace Quake, LoL replace Dota...
I want to tell you all guys onne other thing why cannyon should be here. We (canyon) guys can't be a part of the tournament, TMNN is way to much skilled for guys (like me) who never played TMN. Beisde, TMN guys cann easily play canyon and be very competitive on it (frostbeule ect..) So we could have ann unexpected finnal in canyon.
You guys are making me sick. All those Cayon players think their game is the best and should replace stadium. You guys are so narrow-minded.
Grow up.
CS 1.6 is not the same as GO and by far, SM-Quake too, LoL-Dota too, your argument is invalid here. Same goal but way dofferent gameplay (like nation annd canyon). This is the logical way for a game to grow up. But you are to selfish to see that.
You are making me sick, canyon at ESWC would unified all community, because tmn players will do this tournament ($$$$$), tmn players can win this tournament (because the game is a lot easier), and so canyon and nation will be together. With only tmn, beh only tmn players, because canyon guys can't compete in your game, and if a canyon player give a shot he will do nothing.
So the result is here, instead of having 2 comunity in one game, you have one comunity in one game, and one who is not happy (and that's normal)
I never said canyon should die and let all the space to nations. ESWC admins had to take one game, they picked Stadium for some reasons: Bigger community, more players, known by more people. That's it. Accept the fact.
I would have love to see both games, because they are both fun to watch. I enjoyed watching the final last year in Canyon..Furthermore, you are saying canyon is a far more easy game than Stadium? I disagree. You are saying canyon guys can't play stadium beacause it's too hard... So, according to you, which game should be shown at ESWC? A game with a high skilled ratio of players, or a easier game where the skills needed is inferior?
I'm not saying that you shouldn't play canyon and go to Stadium, but saying that you CAN'T play stadium is invalid. Before saying such a thing, grow some balls :)
I'm not really sure about this. It's TM2 Stadium and not TMNF as mentioned several times before. So is the competitive scene here really bigger than the one in Canyon?
Lol.
