Still seems a bit unclear to me whether it will be separated tournaments or just 1 tournament with all games judging from this. But I guess it will be separated ones, and this announcement is just another proof that they don't grasp what TM is (though I can't really blame them for that, it's been a running theme for years now no matter who the organizer is...).

Anyway, I hope the main focus will lie on TMNF. It definitely deserves it.

Nice reaction, we'll see again both canyon and stad at the GA :D

#1 "definitely deserves it"? Tell me one good reason why it deserves it more than Canyon or TM2 Stadium...

Anyway, it's kind of awesome to hear that United gets its first offline tournament since it was released (which is nearly seven years ago :P). Although I'm not really sure about what will happen or how they'll organise it.

#3 Because it's the game that introduced TM into esports, and its been representing TM in esports for the last 6 years, and I think it's the most suited for that. Over the years it's built up a strong competitive history and legacy with 7 different world champions (Carl, XenoGeaR, me, KarjeN, Bergie, hakkiJunior and Spam). 4 of those were present at last years GA event. If Stadium 2 is a worthy successor to TMNF (and has been released in time) I wouldn't have a problem with that game continuing TMNF's legacy at GA.

This reminds me of the discussion/flamewar between CS 1.6 and CS:S players... well, there is CS:GO now, but it's slightly the same. Time goes by, so why don't you (and all the other nations-guys) just deal with it? Of course, it's not forbidden to enjoy and support your beloved game, but to devalue other games (like Canyon for example), which have their own fans and lovers, just to put your slightly impoverished game on the top is not the right way. Of course, it's just my own opinion so I don't force you to agree with it.

Don't forget that fB was one of the best TM2 players during ZOTAC competitions.
#7 par oNio sur 26/01/2013 à 19:59
Don't forget that fB just played TM² because of the money, not because of the joy.

#5: The CS comparision halts because those are still pretty much the same game, much like TMN to TMNF was. TM2 Stadium would be CS GO in this scenario, and as I already said, I wouldn't mind that game carrying over TMN/TMNF's esports legacy, if it's good enough. Also as a side-note, Valve actually cares about, values and takes feedback from the esports scene. Something which sadly can't be said about Nadeo (atleast not for TrackMania).

You are of course entitled to your opinion, just as I am. I'm not forcing anyone to think anything, that would be stupid. I played Canyon, and I thought it was an ok game, but that's all it was to me.

And as post #7 so happily points out I mostly just played Canyon because there was some money to win – personally I don't see anything wrong with this. The games I do really enjoy though I keep playing no matter what. Because in those cases, money isn't actually important.

it was just thought as an answer to wormis post before, it wasn't a cry like "frost pls answer this" :/ god...

i kinda played it for the money too at first, and how you said, i see nothing wrong with this.

This needs to be clear asap...

#17 par serujio sur 29/01/2013 à 22:42
if I had the opportunity to play this lan in a country this close to mine, like in the case of Netherlands or Germany, I would not mind about the prize, because the event itself looks worth the travel.
#18 par oNio sur 02/02/2013 à 17:26
Dude, some guys don't have that much money for that xD Some guys have to pay for university or doesn't have a regular salary, therefore some guys need a lil bit more motivation to travel there and spend money for that ;)

sure, with prize money is better, gives more of a professional esport feeling. But for the those who live this close, and have the money, looks worth going anyway.
