Trackmania Tournament (TmT) has announced their next tournament for 2013, which will be their 5th in total!
What's special about this announcement is that TmT has decided to stick with TrackMania Nations Forever, instead of moving over to the new game TrackMania² Stadium.
In a Facebook post the reasons to this decision is written out. It includes wanting to please what the majority wanted (they organized a poll and TMNF won by a small margin) as well as stating that they don't know too much about the new game and that in TMNF they would be 100% sure they could run a smooth tournament. Lastly they also state that they want to give TMNF a proper goodbye.
Team Acer won the tournament in 2012 after defeating Dignitas in the grand final.
As for when exactly the tournament will start is not known. Only vague words about September has been mentioned.
Of course once Mania-Actu got more information about this event, more news will follow.
What do you think about TmT's decision to stick with TMNF? Leave a comment below if you want.

To me, the spectator mode on Stadium 2, alone, is enough reason to move to the new game. So much better to spec with normal game cameras instead of that far view on tmnf. And what about the flowy opponent cars instead of those "jumping" lagging opponents on tmnf? Other than that the graphics, maniaplanet, and lots of minor details that improves the game.
Right, and by announcing TmT in TM2S(and some ET tournaments aswell) admins could of force people to buy/switch to the new game but instead, on TmT 5th anniversary, they just bring hate to this tournament from players who really wanted to play it in TM2S. If you making pole about 2 games, and new game has like only 10-20 less votes than the old one...In this situation how stupid you have to be to actually choose TMNF...
This game and the community that would belong to it has absolutly no chances to go ahead if we do not support it...Anyway, hope things will change in some months or years, when Maniaplanet will bring some awesome features.
The poll was decided for TMNF, but only with a really small margin. That's like a big win for TM2S because there is a difference of 10€ between both games.
If big tournament organisations will keep supporting TMNF, TM2S will never have a big community and since TMNF becomes older and more outdated both games will be dead in near future because why should a big organisation support a new game when there's like no community?
The gameplay in TMNF just feels better to me, from how the drift feels to how it seems like there aren't as many landing bugs as in the new game. You may say that is just nit-picking, but I really think stuff like that matters, especially when you've got used to a certain specific way for years and years.
I mean a perfect example of this would be CS 1.6 and Source - It's really the same thing in many ways, and that was horrible for their community.
So I think it's up to Nadeo to try and really make the gameplay of this new game as similar as possible to how it is in TMNF, because right now it's not. If they do that I think people will naturally move over much easier.
Also the game do cost money, and so a lot of people don't really see a reason to pay that cost (even if it's not much) when they can just stick with TMNF that's better anyway (at some stuff).
Well I'm not sure this is main reason - I mean a lot of people who wanna stay in TMNF didn't even tried a new game, and for most of that players who actually wanted to switch(I asked quite a few of them)- they don't even feel big difference in gameplay, or difference not big enough to not switch. Well, everybody would have to switch anyway if only TmT/ET announced tournaments in TM2S, in 2014 it's might be too late ^^
and that's just because...
Why get used to something new when the well known one is still being supported, right? No, this is not the right way...
Fair enough, I suppose that is true for some people and maybe even the majority. But I do think the small things matter a great deal, and all I'm saying is that they should be prioritized too because it's important.
Well I don't think it's just because you've got used to it over a long time. I think the gameplay in TMNF is actually better, and it just seems to me like a very unnecessary thing to make it different, even if the difference is marginal. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" - I think this is especially important when you speak about esports. But I think Nadeo got pretty close you know, it just needs a bit more tweaking imo and I hope they will do that.
